Happy New Year!<\/p>\n

Here at SimplyHelp, we hope that you have been enjoying the New Year celebrations with your family and friends. While it is necessary to enjoy the holiday, our families, and the traditions, it is also important to remember that there are still those in need who we can help together. It is a New Year, and for many people this means the hope of a fresh start.<\/p>\n

An important cultural tradition associated with celebrating the New Year is showing respect for the elderly \u2013 a tradition that takes on even more importance when the elderly are unable to care for themselves. Since 2007, our friends at the SimplyHelp China Chapter in Szechuan Province in China have visited a local center for low-income seniors to pay their respects, celebrate the New Year, and donate needed items. \u00a0This year, the volunteers presented the seniors with the traditional red envelopes, as well as some daily necessities of toothpaste, toothbrushes, towels, and soap. Residents were also treated to another, tastier surprise \u2013an entire roasted pig! Fang An, the President of SimplyHelp China, was responsible for organizing this particular donation event, and has been an incredible asset to SimplyHelp\u2019s presence in China. He provided assistance in relief efforts after the devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Szechuan in 2008, and also provided support for the construction of libraries in the region.<\/p>\n
