SimplyHelp Disaster Relief Projects In El Salvador

2009 Floods in El Salvador Threaten La Libertad Projects
In late November of 2009, El Salvador was beseiged by egregious rainfall that resulted in the baleful flooding of several rural regions. One of the regions hit particular hard was  La Libertad, where the SimplyHelp Foundation runs a vocational training school.

The school itself did not incur serious damage, but many of its students lost their homes and belongings. SimplyHelp sent a container with relief supplies and donations to La Libertad in order to relieve the immediate loss and suffering of victims of the flood.

Earthquake 2001
The Simply Help Foundation provided disaster relief in Usulutan in 2001, after an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 caused major damage in El Salvador.

SimplyHelp Volunteers collected medicine, food and clothing and sent four full containers of 50-tons each to the disaster area. Each container benefitted 5000 families.

El Salvador’s National Emergency Committee (COEN) reported 726 deaths, 4,421 injuries, 1,016,440 people affected, 74,955 houses destroyed, and 109,359 houses damaged. The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) estimated that 68,000 people had been evacuated, and that 60,000 people were living in temporary shelters.
