Nicaragua is the second poorest country in Latin America, after Haiti. Poverty is largely a rural problem in Nicaragua. Nearly half (43%) of the people in Nicaragua live in rural areas. Two-thirds (68%) of Nicaraguans struggle to survive on little more than$1 per day. Natural disasters and the distortion of commodity prices on the international market have led to an increase in poverty in many regions.
SimplyHelp distributes three containers of donations per-year to Nicaragua. Containers contain goods such as clothing , shoes, food, toys, medicine and other useful supplies. These donations are collected by SimplyHelp’s volunteers in New York and Los Angeles.
